North Korea: In advance

This travel journal differs from the other journals. For example, you will read some questions in this journal that we could not (yet?) answer. The journal is be more serious since this is not a country to make jokes about... So now you know before reading the real report...

North Korea cannot be expressed in words and the pictures do not really give a realistic picture. You have to 'feel' North Korea, you have to experience it. Only then you can really understand our journal. Still, we shall try to write down our impression and learn you 'something' about this impressive and closed country.

Our North Korea trip started with a group meeting. After much vagueness on where and when to join the group we met our travel companions in the airplane to Shenyang. What a relief that are groep was not 50+ of age on average! We all were in our 20s and 30s, which was very nice. We met very nice people and hopefully we keep in touch with some of them...

The flight to Shenyang went very well and a van was available to pick us up at the airport. We had dinner in a way to luxurious restaurant and we surprised us of the huge (living) fishes and sea food that we could choose from... The next day was a busy program in Dandong: Korean war museum, Chinese wall, bridge to North Korea, boat tour, etcetera (zie our joural of China). After this day, we were ready for North Korea!
